It's been a very hot summer. At one point in past month, I thought my brain was turning into jello under sweltering heat.
Around the this time of the year, I reassess the various trends and micro trends. I get my antenna out to catch any waves of things to come or things I like to wear during coming fall and winter. Living in Brooklyn in an area where there are highest concentration of under 30 year olds, and melting pot of young people from many different corners of the world has its perks. Next few days, I will be listing the recent trends which catches my fancy.

1. Blank skin... I been seeing a lot of skin. This is not surprising since it's summer here. But I mean I see a lot of skin sans tatoo. I see people in their early 20s sporting a lot less tatoos than people who are in their mid to late twenties. Not getting them is new getting IT, I suppose. Or maybe in five years time, those blank skin will also be tatooed.

2. Old man hat... The other day, I spotted a boy of 9 or 10 walking behind his dad looking really adorable. He was wearing light brown felt fedora of some kind, sleeveless striped sailor knit top, red bandanna around his neck and pair of dark khakis. I loved fedora, red bandanna, b & w striped shirt combo so much I am currently looking for a fedora for myself.

3. Hand painted silk... While other two can be achieved with very little money, this one I need to splurge. I been seeing some hand painted silk tee shirts and dresses last few months and I am tempted to wear more than one silk separates at one time. Silk on silk...gasp.
Ones I love are large abstract shape, bold brush strokes or splatter patterns on silk.
There are printed kinds, but hand painted ones look much better.

4. Tailored pants...This is more of what I like to see than what I see in this hot weather. I am not sure if I can stomach another season of super-tight-painted-on -jeans.

I will be adding more to the list in next few days. :)
