New shop. Bags and more bags.

I've been working on making leather bags and launching a new etsy shop. Making bags are slow going, but I'm enjoying the process very much. All leather and some of hardwares making the bag comes from disused leather jackets or bags. Hopefully I will be posting some of the processes soon. These are samples my latest project.

Bags Galore

I have a weak spot for particular style from 1980s. Preppy envelope style bags and clutches from YSL and Valentino are so elegant. Although ubiquitous 80s fashion trends weren't exactly subtle, i.e. shoulder pads, neon colors, bright eye shadows, there were some killer bags exemplified timeless classic lines. I recently acquired a YSL bag and I adore the quality and the style of this bag. It's on sale in my shop, but I am attempt to add it to my personal collection. It's rare to find Valentino or Yves Saint Laurent bags from 80s in such a great condition, partially because it never leaves original owner's closet. Brown Valentino purse was sold soon after it was put on sale, but maybe YSL bag will end up in my closet...

One Warm Lo----ng Scarf

I hope for spring, but it's still chilly here in NY. I am putting away the thickest of the winter coat, and wearing lighter coat or a jacket. A soft and warm scarf with generous length can provide extra warmth in this tempermental weather. Go with classic black/grey or add a splash of much needed color!
Here are some cozy ideas...

Blacks and grey, structured.

Spring's just round the corner(I hope!), and there's much temptation to bring out my muted jewel tone prints and jade green spring colors. But sunny days don't mean spring temperature. So I rounded up more seasonably sensible coats and jackets in blacks, greys and whites. Love Dries van Noten drapey jacket, Chanel structured jacket and others pretties from streets.

Prints, wrangled.

Some prints can be tamed to behave and play nice with others, or not. Here are some of my favorites.

Paper Dolls

So cute! I'm always amazed by the ingenuity of people on etsy. This morning I got a sweet surprise from Catrin in Berlin. She put together this paper doll page on Germany Etsy blog page with the denim shorts in my shop & she emailed me to let me know. It made remember how I LOVED to play with my paper dolls. Maybe that's where my passion for dressing up started? Thank you Catrin for such a great looking page. You can see more here:

Pretty ideas for Spring

I recently got appreciation pic from a fashion blogger who bought some item from my etsy shop. I love how she put the outfit together. So here are the pics. Nude colored dress with lace details and the olive green/mustard cutout jackets were from Seesongshop.

Fashions from Heathers, the movie

Fox hunting anyone? Country club preppiness meets 80s power blazer.

Annie Hall-esque suit vest paired with lacy top for feminine/masculine look.

Veronica's oversize vest and legging look is so fetching.

Being popular in high school was a career for these girls...and they dressed for the parts

"Heathers" one of my all time fav dark comedies, has casts with iconic late 80s early 90s fashion.
Veronica(Wynona Rider), of course, looked faboulous in every out fit(no matter how torn and burnt it got at the end of the movie).
Style from that era had a kind of (almost obnoxious) unflappable bounciness, with paded shoulder jackets, bright florals,
primary solids, and jewel tones mixed in with greys and blacks. Classic suits for women were starting to show up, even in high school.
Sophia Coppla(a teen at the time) was sighted in her vintage Chanel suit walking down hall of her high school...sigh..wish I was so fashionable when I was sixteen. Precocious put-togethered-ness of Heathers is worth revisiting...

Chanel Inspired Finds...

These are some of my Chanel inspired finds. Although Coco's passed almost 40 years ago, her style inspired and continue to inspire contemporary fashion. One need not to look far to see Chanel-effects. If I am in mood for something elegant and feminine, I never go wrong with pieces like these. They are slightly loose and drapes beautifully even on imperfect bodies. Silhouette is well defined by details like tiers and stripes, without being too tight or revealing too much.
